

Within City Council, we are continuing to push the Empowering Communities for Public Safety (ECPS) ordinance, which would establish one of the most democratic police accountability systems in the country. I want to take a moment to acknowledge what a difficult month this has been for many members of our community, and to lift up some of the great work happening to build safe, healthy communities for all–in our ward and beyond. It’s still unclear why he was stopped by CPD, and his family continues to demand answers. Alvarez was 22 years old, an avid soccer fan, and father to a 2-year-old daughter.
